It's winter time and that means dryer temps and low to no moisture in the air for our lash glues to adhere with which means It's time to get out that humidifer and get some moisture in the air! If you're using one from last year and you didn't clean it before putting it away below is a simple guide to easy cleaning.
"I personally love this HUMIDIFIER! I have had a few over the years and this one has been my favorite. It is light weight - even full of water, emits the perfect amount of moisture for my workspace and is so easy to clean." - Feather
Cleaning a humidifier that has mold requires some care and attention to ensure that it's thoroughly cleaned and safe to use again. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Materials Needed:
Water
Mild dish soap
Dish Sponge, Soft-bristle brush, Toothbrush or my favorite (as shown in my pics) Lash Spoolies!
Clean, dry cloth or paper towels
Instructions:
Safety First:
Before starting, unplug the humidifier from the power source.
Empty the Humidifier:
Remove any water from the humidifier's water tank and base.
Take out the filter (if applicable) and set it aside.
Disassemble the Humidifier:
If possible, disassemble the humidifier into its individual parts (water tank, base, and any removable components).
Refer to the manufacturer's manual for specific instructions on disassembly.
Rinse with Water:
Rinse each part thoroughly with clean hot water to remove any loose debris or mold. DO NOT SUBMERGE base in water. Avoid getting water into any openings on the outside of the base.
Using Mild Dish Soap:
Apply the mild dish soap in the water and begin washing it with a Dish Sponge.
Scrubbing:
Use a soft-bristle brush or toothbrush to scrub away any remaining mold or mineral deposits. Pay attention to crevices and corners.
For stubborn mold, using my favorite cleaning tool... a Lash Spoolie to reach tight spaces. You can bend the Lash Spoolie to reach angles you can't get to with a toothbrush or soft bristle brush.
Rinse Again:
Thoroughly rinse all parts with clean water to remove any mild soap residue. Again, avoid getting water into any openings on the outside of the base.
Dry Completely:
Allow all parts to air-dry completely before reassembling the humidifier.
Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down any remaining moisture.
Reassemble and Test:
Put the humidifier back together, ensuring all parts are properly seated.
Fill the water tank with clean water and run the humidifier for a short period to ensure there are no lingering odors or residues.
Regular Maintenance:
To prevent future mold growth, empty the water tank daily, clean it weekly, and replace the filter as recommended by the manufacturer.
Humidifier Drops are useful in preventing slimy buildup while it Cleans & Deodorizes.
By following these steps, you should be able to effectively clean your humidifier and eliminate any mold growth. Regular maintenance will help keep it in good condition and ensure the air it humidifies remains clean and healthy.
